Small Firms Training Loan (SFTL) |
(SFTL) is a deferred repayment bank loan offered in partnership between the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and eight high street banks.
With an SFTL you can borrow between £500 and £125,000 and are offered a lower rate of interest than a normal business loan and repayments can be delayed for up to 12 months.
These loans are for sole traders, partnerships, co-operatives, franchises and limited companies. Businesses employing up to 50 permanent members of staff can apply provided that they are already trading or are about to trade.
You can use the loan for to pay for consultancy advice, education or training courses, or to work towards Investors in People accreditation. The training must support your business objectives and the training and development of your employees.

Career Development Loans (CDL) |
(CDL) is a deferred repayment bank loan to help individuals pay for vocational education or learning.
Individuals can borrow between £300 and £8000 to pay for up to two years of learning (3years if the course includes work experience). The loan can cover 80% of your course fees, or 100% of your course fees if you have been out of work for three months or more. The loan can also cover living expenses if your course is full time, and other related expenses like books, childcare, travel costs.
